> The Beginning
In 2018-2019, Phoenix's West Coast Swing scene had stalled. Younger dancers craved modern music and fresh energy, but established venues weren't listening. When COVID restrictions lifted in Arizona, we saw an opportunity.
What started as intimate speakeasy-style home socials, just friends dancing in living rooms, evolved into something extraordinary. During our final home event, a joke about "90's rave style" marketing with bunny stencils and a "Follow the White Rabbit" message sparked something real. The name stuck, and White Rabbit Society was born.
> Community First, Always 💚
White Rabbit isn't about profit. It's about people. We operate on a simple philosophy: put the community's needs first, and everything else follows.
Every year, we survey our dancers. Real voices. Real input. Real change. This isn't just our community. It's yours. From 24 dancers in a tiny venue to 200 at our monthly socials, we've grown because we listen.
We celebrate what matters: connection, growth, and the joy of dance. Our annual Social Dance Champions aren't crowned by judges. They're chosen by you, the community, through democratic voting.
> What Makes Us Different
We believe in going far, together. Not fast, alone. This philosophy shapes everything we do:
- Modern Energy: Contemporary music, fresh vibes, and an atmosphere that welcomes everyone
- True Community: Annual surveys, democratic voting, and genuine care for every dancer's experience
- All Levels Welcome: Whether you're stepping onto the floor for the first time or you're a seasoned pro, there's a place for you here
- Phoenix Proud: We're building something special right here in the Sonoran Desert, and we want you to be part of it
> The Journey Continues
From speakeasy socials to Arizona's biggest monthly West Coast Swing event, White Rabbit has become more than a dance community, it's a movement. A place where the music is modern, the energy is electric, and every dancer matters.
The white rabbit led us down this path. Now we're inviting you to follow it too.
